Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 7-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair (2).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 29 February 1864 (1, 2). He enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2). He was mustered in by Lieutenant Burke (2). He was a private in company D (1, 6).

He was wounded on 27 September 1864 (1).

He was discharged on 25 August 1865 by general order (1). He was a private, in company D (6).

After the war

On 19 December 1870, he applied successfully for a pension (3, 4).

On 2 November 1891, he died, of cirrhosis of the liver, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4, 5). He died at, or was buried from, rear 2503 Naudain Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5). He was married (5). On 5 November 1891, he was buried at Old Cathedral Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5).

On 13 November 1891, his widow, Julia E Green, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 4).
