He enlisted and was mustered into service in company G of the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry, commanded by Captain A J Sellers on 17 September 1861 (1, 2, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain McAuther (3). By mistake, he was entered on the list for company G of the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry, commanded by Captain E G Sellers (2, 3, 4).
He was transferred to company G of the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry (1, 2). When transferred, he was a private, in company G (4).
