He may be the Augustus Klar who registered for the draft in June 1863, in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He was a machinist, and was married. [source: 11]

He was a substitute. He enlisted and was mustered into service on 24 March 1865. He was enlisted for one year, at Norristown, Pennsylvania. His enlistment was credited to the sixth congressional district. He was a private in company A. [sources: 1, 2, 18, 19]
