Before the war

He was born in 1837/38 (4 (24 in 1862), 6 [55 in 1893], 10 [55 in 1893]). He was born in England (6, 10).

During the war

He also served in company C of the 29th Pennsylvania Militia Infantry (7, 9)

He enlisted and was mustered into service at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 9 January 1862 (1, 4, 9). He was mustered in as a private in company D (1, 4, 10, 11, 12).

He was wounded on 13 December 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia (1, 4).

He was discharged on 16 April 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability, from Camp Convalescent (1, 2 [no date], 3 [medical board], 4, 9). He had served for fifteen months (6, 10). He was a private, in company D (11, 12).

After the war

On 23 September 1864, he applied successfully for a pension (7, 9).

In 1890, he was living in Gloucester City, Camden County, New Jersey (8). He had wounds in his hand and in his knee (4).

On 1 February 1893, he was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (6, 10). He was admitted from Pennsylvania (6). He had a gunshot wound in the hand (6).

In 1893, he was present at the Southern Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (6). He was receiving a pension of $4 per month (6).

He again applied for a pension on 23 February 1907 (9).

On 6 July 1909, he was dropped from the Southern Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (10). He was then receiving a pension of $15 per month (10).

He died on 1 February 1915, at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, in Elizabeth City County, Virginia (5, 9). He was buried in the Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton County, Virginia (5).
