When he enlisted, he was a butcher, and was living at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4, 5).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, black eyes, and black hair (4, 5).

During the war

He enlisted, for three years, and was mustered into service, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 25 October 1861 (1, 4, 5). He was a private in company H (1, 5, 11, 12, 13). He had gun number 66 (4).

He was detailed for duty as a teamster, in the Brigade Quartermaster Department, on 13 June 1863 (2).

He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg (6).

He was detailed for Colonel Gregory (sic) on 30 December 1863 (3).

He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on 24 December 1863, at Bealton, Virginia (1, 5).

He was wounded on 12 May 1864 at Spottsylvania Court House, Virginia (1, 7).

He was absent in hospital, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when the regiment mustered out (1, 5). He was a private, in company H (11, 12, 13).

After the war

In 1890, he was apparently living at 2806 Filmore Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (9).

On 29 September 1890, he applied unsuccessfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (8, 10).
