Isaac Matlock

Before the war

He was born in September 1835 (10; 2 (25 in 1861), 7 (24 in 1860), 8 (32 in 1870), 9 (46 in 1880), 10 (64 in 1900), 11 (74 in 1910), 12 (15 in 1850)). He was born in Washington, DC (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 [PA]).

In 1850, he was (probably) living in Richmond District, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania (12). He was living with Samuel Shetrphine [?] and family (12). He was not working (12).

In 1860, he was living in the nineteenth ward of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (7). He was a glassblower (7). He was living with James Jorrs [?] and his family (7).

In 1860/61, he married Harriet [unknown family name] (10, 11). In 1900 and 1910, she had had ten children four of whom were alive (10, 11).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 8 October 1861 (1, 2 [2 Dec 61], 3 [10 Oct]). He was a private in company B (1, 2, 16).

He was discharged on 10 August 1862 or in July 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 2, 3 [10 Aug]). He was a private, in company B (16).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in the 18th ward of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his wife Harriet, and daughters Laura and Georgianna (8). He was a glassblower (8).

In 1880, he was living at 810 East Huntingdon Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (9). He was an agent of the PPCA (9). He was living with his wife Harriette, and children Laura, Georgianna, Isaac, and Richard (9).

On 2 January 1886, he successfully applied for a pension (5, 6).

In 1890, he was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, probably at 2353 Huntingdon (3, 4). If so, he was a watchman (4).

In 1900, he was living at 2229 Taygart Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his wife Harriet, his daughters Laura and Georgianna, and a granddaughter (10). He was a glassblower (10).

He again applied for a pension on 13 February 1907 (5).

In 1910, he was living at 630 East Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11). He was not working (11). He was living with his wife Harriet, daughter Laura Firth, and a lodger (11).

He died on 6 January 1911 (5, 14, 15). He was buried from 630 Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Greenwood Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (15). Members of the Captain Ulrich Dahlgren Post, No. 14, Grand Army of the Republic, and Richmond Lodge, No. 240, IOOF, were invited to attend (15).

On 7 January 1911, Harriet M Matlack, his widow, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (5, 6).

In 1930, his widow, Harriet Matlock, was living in Frankford, ward 23, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (13). She was living with a grandchild and family (13).
