When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair. [source: 1]

During the war

He was enlisted on 25 December 1861. He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by C L Zinn. He was mustered into company H. [source: 1]
