On 1 August 1862, he was mustered into the 118th Pennsylvania, as a sergeant. [sources: 1, 2]
On 7 January 1863, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant of company G of the 118th Pennsylvania. [source: 2]
On 6 June 1864, he was promoted to First Lieutenant of company D of the 118th Pennsylvania. [source: 2]
On 14 July 1864, he was discharged. [source: 2]
On 30 November 1864, he was reinstated. [source: 2]
On 9 April 1865, he was promoted to Captain of company A of the 118th Pennsylvania. [source: 2]
On 1 June 1865, he mustered out, with his company. [source: 2]
He apparently was a Captain in the 91st, not assigned to a company. Perhaps he was transferred when the 118th was mustered out. However, according to the 118th's regimental history, he was mustered out with his company, before men from the 118th were transferred to the 91st. (And the pension index cards do not refer to any service in the 91st.) [sources: 1, 2]
On 29 April 1890, his widow, Caroline H Moore, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension. [sources: 3, 4]
