During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 26 November 1861 (1, 3). He was mustered in as a private in company K (3, 5).

He was transferred on 24 December 1861 to company D (1, 3, 4).

He was wounded on 13 December 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia (1, 3).

He was discharged on 17 January 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability, either at Convalescent Camp, Virginia, or at Carver Hospital, Washington DC (1, 2 [medical board], 3). He was a private, in company D (5).
