Before the war

He was born in 1841/42 (6 (19 in 1861), 12 (1841)). He was born in Easton, Pennsylvania (6).

When he enlisted, he was a cle[rk] (6).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and light hair (6).

During the war

He also served in company D of the 1st Pennsylvania Infantry (7, 8, 12). He served from 20 April 1861 to 24 July 1861 (12).

He enlisted and was mustered into service in company K on 1 October 1861 (1, 6, 8, 11 (sgt)). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Casner (6). His parents consented to his enlistment (6).

He was probably appointed sergeant on 8 October 1862 (4).

On 18 March 1863, he returned to the regiment, probably from a leave (2).

In May 1863, he was apparently wounded in his hand (9, 10 [hand]).

He was transferred to the Veterans' Reserve Corps on 4 September 1863 (1, 3, 5, 8). When transferred, he was a private, in company K (1, 11). He served in company B of the 12th Veterans' Reserve Corp (7, 8). He was unfit for duty because of wounds (5).

After the war

On 30 June 1880, he applied unsuccessfully for a pension (7, 8).

On 6 August 1881, he died (12). He was a doctor (12). He was buried in Easton Cemetery, Northampton County, Pennsylvania (12).
