When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, grey eyes, and sandy hair (2).

During the war

He was a substitute (1). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 25 March 1865 (1, 2, 3, 8). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Lloyd (2). He was a private in company C (1, 9).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3, 8). He was a private, in company C (9).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Muskegen [?], Muskegen County, Michigan (5). He was a tailor (5).

In 1870/71, he married Emma [unknown family name] (6, 7). In 1900 and 1910, she had had three children, all of whom were alive (6, 7).

In 1890, he was living in Pentwater Village, Oceana County, Michigan (3).

On 9 March 1892, he applied successfully from Michigan for a pension (4, 8).

In 1900, he was living in Oceana County, Michigan (6). He was living with his wife Emma (6). He was a salesman [?] (6).

In 1910, he was living at 45 Cass Avenue, in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan (7). He was living with his wife Emma (7). He had no occupation (7).

On 7 [?] May 1911, he again applied for a pension (8).

He died on 26 October 1925, at Grand Rapids, Michigan (8).
