Before the war

He was born in 1833/34 (2 (27 in 1861), 4, 8 (25 in 1860), 11 (58 at death in 1892)). He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4, 8, 11). He was born to George and Ann Rubicam (11).

In 1860, he was living in the 14th ward of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with George and Adaline Rubican (presumably his parents), Eliza and Clara Rubican (presumably his siblings), and five other people (8). His father was a carpenter (8).

When he enlisted, he was a carpenter (4).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 8 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, dark eyes, and dark hair (4).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered in, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 2 November 1861 (1, 2, 4). He was enlisted for three years, by Lieutenant Murphy (2, 4). He was mustered into service as a private, in company F (1, 2, 12-13).

He was discharged at Washington DC on 12 April 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 2, 3, 4). He was a private, in company F (12-13).

After the war

He married Martha K [unknown family name] (9). She had 2 children, both of whom were living in 1900, but had died by 1910 (9, 10).

He moved to Camden in 1888 (11).

In 1890, he was living in the 3rd ward of Camden, New Jersey (6).

On 8 July 1890, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (5, 7).

He died at 635 South 4th Street, Camden, New Jersey, on 7 January 1892, of hemorrhage of lungs (7, 11). He had been sick for three months (11). He was a salesman (11). He was buried at Mt Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11).

On 17 January 1892, his widow, Martha K Rubicam, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (5, 7).

In 1900, his widow, Martha K Rubicam, was living at 605 S 4th St, Camden, Camden County, New Jersey (9). She was living with her son Frank and his family (9).

In 1910, his widow, Martha Rubican, was living at 2029 Sumac Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (10). She was a boarder (10).
