Before the war

During the war

He was drafted. He was mustered into service as a private in the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry on 11 September 1863 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was in company A of the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry. [sources: 1, 2, 3, 4]

On 2 June 1865, he was transferred from the 118th Pennsylvania to company F of the 91st Pennsylvania. He was a private in company F of the 91st. [sources: 1, 2, 3 (1 June), 12]

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865. He was a private, in company F. [sources: 1, 3, 12]

After the war

He married Georgeanna [unknown family name]. She was born in 1846, in Delaware. [sources: 7, 10]

In 1880, he was living in Brandywine Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. He was living with his wife Georgiana, children Lena, John H, Sophia, and Charles, and his mother-in-law Cornelis Colburn. He was a painter, and had been out of work for six months in the previous year. [source: 11]

On 4 May 1885, he died, in Christianna Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. He died of natural causes. He was a laborer, and was married. He was buried in Mount Salem Cemetery, Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. [sources: 6, 7, 8, 9]

On 21 July 1890, his widow, Georgiana Lloyd, successfully applied from Louisiana for a pension. [sources: 4, 5]

On 25 June 1908, his widow, Georgeanna Lloyd, died, in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. She died of carcinoma of bowels. On 28 June 1908, she was buried in Mount Salem Cemetery, Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. [sources: 7, 10]
