Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6-1/2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair (3, 4).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service as a private on 22 August 1861 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 3, 4, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Colonel Reiff (3). He was a private in company A (1, 2, 8-9).

He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg (7).

He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on 26 December 1863, at Bealton, Virginia (1, 4).

He was absent, sick, at muster out (1, 3 [absent wounded], 4, 5 [discharged 10 Jul 65]). He was a private, in company A (8-9).

After the war

On 10 April 1888, and on 26 February 1907, he applied successfully from Maryland for a pension (2, 5).

In 1890, he was living in Crumpton, Queen Anne County, Maryland (6). He had a gunshot wound in his arm and leg (6)

He died in 1913 (5).
