He may be the Alexander Waterson who was living in ward 19, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1860 (4). If so, he was a laborer, and was born in Ireland (4). (Note the difference in age, however.)

When he enlisted, he was a black[smith?] (3).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5 inches tall, and had a light complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair (3).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 22 November 1861 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Casner (3). He was mustered in as a private in company K, by George Murphy (1, 3, 6-7).

He was discharged at Alexandria, Virginia, on 5 August 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 2). He was a private, in company K (6-7).

After the war

He may be the Alex D Waterson who was living at 1907 South Fifth Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1880 (5). If so, he was a laborer, and was living with his wife Hannah and daughter Jennie (5).
