He enlisted and was mustered into service on 30 August 1861 (1, 7, 9 [27 (?) Aug], 13). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Colonel Reiff (7). He was a private in company C (1, 14).
He was detailed as a teamster on 22 September 1863 (3), and had not returned on 25 September 1863 (2). He was reported detailed as a teamster on 29 September 1863 (6).
He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer (1).
On 1 March 1864, Colonel Gregory detached him to collect conscripts, at Philadelphia (4). He returned from detached service on 16 April 1864 (8).
He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 13). He was a private, in company C (14).
On 25 July 1890, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (12, 13).
In 1890, he was living at 2040 Master Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (9, 10). He was a policeman (10). John Hager was also living there (10).
He again applied for a pension on 15 February 1907 (13).
He died on 9 October 1908 (11, 13). He was buried at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (11).
