He married Susan [unknown family name]. She was born in 1797/1810, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their children apparently include:

On 25 August 1834, his daughter, Emeline Wispert, was baptised, in the Kensington Methodist Episcopal Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [source: 19]

In 1845-1849, he was a carpenter, living at Duke Street below Palmer. [source: 10]

In 1850, he was living in ward 5, Kensington, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. He was living with Susan (presumably his wife), and Sarah, Emeline, James, Adam, Andrew, and William H (presumably their children). He was a carpenter, and owned $1,000 in real estate. [source: 5]

In 1860, he was living in ward 18, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, apparently at 1433 Vienna Street. He was living with his wife Susan and children James, Adam, Andrew, and Alona. He was a carpenter. [sources: 10, 11]

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, dark eyes, and grey hair. [source: 3]

During the war

His sons Adam Wispert and James Wispert also served in the 91st. His son Alonzo Wispert also served, in company F of the 2nd US Cavalary, and in the general mounted service of the USA. [source: 22]

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 8 October 1861. He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Colonel Zinn. He was mustered in as a private in company H. He had rifle number 99. [sources: 1, 3, 23]

He was discharged at [illegible] Barracks, in Washington DC, on 6 April 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability. He was a private, in company H. [sources: 1, 2, 3, 23]

After the war

In 1865-1866, he was a carpenter, living at Memphis Street near Vienna. [source: 10]

On 7 May 1866, his son Adam Wispert married Margaretta Crozier. They were married by G G Rakestraw, of the Pitman Methodist Episcopal Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [source: 20]

In 1867, he was a carpenter, living at 1838 Memphis Street. [source: 10]

On 11 November 1867, his son James married Ella Mulvaney. They were married by John G Wilson, of the First Independent Christian Church. [source: 21]

In 1870, he was living in ward 19, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was living with his sons Andrew and James and James' family. He was not working. His wife, Susan, was living with their son Alonzo, in ward 18, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [sources: 12, 13]

On 13 January 1875, his son, James Wispert, died, at 948 Aramingo Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died of typhoid fever. He was married, and was a glassblower. His body was initially held in the Palmer Street Vault. [source: 16]
