Clarence Edgar Jones   -  Obit

Clarence Edgar Jones, 79, a retired farmer of Dublin died Sunday at 4:45 am in the Dublin Hospital after a lengthy illness.  Funeral services were held Monday, May 22, 1972 at 4pm in the First Baptist Church of Dublin with burial in the Victor Cemetery.  Memorial services were concluded with the reading of the following poem which was written the morning of the services by Mr. Jones' mother who is 99 years of age: 
Clarence has left the hospital bed, for the Golden shore,
Over silver water he has flown, Gone to join his loved ones, Peace forever more.
His chair at home is empty, His loved ones miss him so,
He's with the Angel chorus, singing, glory evermore.

Mr. Jones was born April 4, 1893 in Erath County near the Highland community to Mrs. Mary Jane (Molly) Jones and the late Mason Overstreet Jones.  He was married March 5, 1914 to Lillie Myrtle Young and to this union were born 4 children.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dublin and an ordained deacon.

Survivors include his wife Myrtle; two daughters, Mrs. Guindola Morris of Brownwood and Mrs. Ruby Faye Pair of De Leon; one son, Marvin C. Jones of Dublin; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. M. O. Jones of Stephenville, three brothers, Lindsey & B. O. (Dick) of Dublin, and Reecie of Stephenville; three sister, Mrs. Pearl Fincannon of Levelland, Mrs. May Corbell of Dublin and Mrs. Christine Pendleton of Stephenville and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives who mourn his passing.

Pallbearers were grandsons, grandsons-in-law and one great grandson.  Mr. Jones was preceded in death by one son, Edgar, his father, one brother and a sister.
