    Mrs. Alice J. Jacobs, 81, of Holbrook,RD1, died at 7:10 P.M. Thursday, March 11,1965, in the home of her son Cecil R. Jacobs, after a lingering illness.
    She was born September 23,1883, in Jackson Twonship, a daughter of the late Nicholas J. and Caroline McDonald Johnson.
    On September 28, 1907, she married Henry C. Jacobs, who died April 23, 1958.
    She was a housewife, and spent most of her life at Holbrook, RD1 near Rutan, with the exception of a few years when she resided in Waynesburg.
    She was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church.
    She is survived by one son, Cecil R. Jacobs, of Holbrook, RD1, one step-son, Harry Jacobs Of Holbrook, RD; two step-daughters, Mrs Hazel Hewitt of Waynesburg, and Mrs Mildred Behm of Bristoria; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  One sister, Mrs. Mary Wright, of Swarts; and four brothers, Harrison Johnson, of Cameron Star route,Waynesburg; William
Johnson, of Wheeling, WVa; Orville Johnson , of Washington and Orland Johnson, of Waynesburg also survive.  One son, Francis, and one daughter, Evelyn, are deceased.

Friends of Mrs. Alice J. Jacobs of RD 1 Holbrook (near Rutan) who died Thursday, march 11, 1965, are being received in the home of her son, Cecil R.     Alvie C. Jacobs, 67, of Gladden Heights, McDonald, died at 4:40 A. M. Friday, June 22, 1979, in Washington Hospital.
    He was born Nov. 5, 1911, in Burgettstown, a son of Alvie V. and Jessie C. Bell Jacobs.
    A retired cement mason, he was employed by Local 526.
    He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of McDonald.
    Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Shotis Jacobs; three daughters, Florence E. Brown of Midway, Mary Ann Campbell, Gladden Heights, and Janet Kierski, Pittsburgh; four sons, Alvie J. Jacobs of Avella, Willard M. Jacobs, Coraopolis, Richard and David L., at home; one brother, Howard Jacobs of Cherry Valley; two sisters, Gladys Fulmur of Burgettstown and Evelyn Stewart, McDonald, and 14 grandchildren. A son, Donald W. Jacobs, was killed in Vietnam in 1968.

    Anna Johnson Jacobs, 68, of 505 North Richhill St., Waynesburg, died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 19, 1971 at her home. Death was attributed to natural causes.
    Mrs. Jacobs was born at Brownsville April 17, 1903, a daughter of Henry G. and Georgia McFarland Johnson.
    She was a retired school teacher from the Westmoreland County area and a gratuate of California
Normal School.
    Mrs. Jacobs was a member of the First Christian Church of Waynesburg and the Greene County representative of the Easter Seal Society in Waynesburg.
    Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Alfred "Hannah Jane" Baily, of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; two sisters: Alcinda Chalfant, of Brownsville, and Ida Mae Hull, of Pittsburgh; and four brothers; Andrew, Lew and David Johnson, all of Waynesburg, and Henry Johnson, Jr., of Fairmont, W. Va.
Funeral services were held Saturday with burial in Uniontown.


    Antoinette "Helen" Jacobs, 79, of 112 Oliver Ave., Bentleyville, died at 3:06 AM Friday, September 21, 1990, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
    She was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Bentleyville, a daughter of Theodore and Clara Poliniak Kopelchek.
    A homemaker, Mrs. Jacobs lived most of her life in Bentleyville.
    On Nov. 19, 1938, she married Charles S. Jacobs, who died May 30, 1971.
    Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert "Janet" Livingston of Murrysville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Stanley "Jennifer" Rojer and R. Jeffrey Livingston; one great-granddaughter, Emily Rojer; five sisters, Victoria Lee of Ellsworth, Julia Teter of Streetsboro, Ohio, Theodora Burger and Mrs. John "Emily" Napiecek, both of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Richard "Helen" Huss of Bellevue; and several
nieces and nephews.  Tnree brothers, Michael Kopelchek, Theodore Kopelchek and Paul Kopelchek, and one sister, Ann Gladish, are deceased.


    Word has been received in Waynesburg of the death on Jan. 8, 1978 of Mrs. Audrey Lamb Jacobs, 67, of 1438 Mitchell Ave., Tallahassee, Fl.
    She was the wife of William Jacobs, formerly of Waynesburg. A native of Golconba, Ill, she was a retired librarian and a member of the Tallahassee East Hill Baptist Church.
    She has visited in Waynesburg several times with her husband and other members of the family and was acquainted with a number of local residents.
    Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, William F., Jr., John W. and Earl, all of Tallahassee, and David K., of Baldwin, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and six sisters.
    Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at Tallahassee. Those from Waynesburg attending were Mr. Jacobs' brother, E. Bryan Jacobs, and his wife.


    Autumn Rae Jacobs, 18 month old infant daughter of John H. and Mary Martha Phillips Jacobs of 763 Spring Street, Harmony, died at 8:30 P.M. Sunday, March 3, 1974, at Butler Hospital. She had been seriously ill for the past week.
    She was born Oct. 3, 1972 at Rochester.
    She is survived by the following brothers and sisters Claudia, Jeneva, Denise, John C., Robert and Jeffery all at home, and paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Cecil R. Jacobs of Holbrook, R D 1.

Bernice K. Jacobs, 87, formerly of Carnegie, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997


Daniel W. Jacobs, a prominent business man of Clarksburg, W. Va., and a formerly from Greene County, died at his home Sunday, April 22, from heart trouble following a severe attack of influenza and pneumonia. Mr. Jacobs was taken ill while in Florida early in the year and was only recently able to return home. He was thought to be improving, however, and was out driving Saturday. Mr. Jacob was born at Graysville, this county, 63 years ago, a son of William and Hester Jane Loar Jacobs, deceased. He located in Clarksburg when he was a youth.


Daniel B. Jacobs, and aged and substantial citizen of this county, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Loar in Richhill township, Wed., Aug. 15, 1894, of diarrhoae. He was aged 85 years and 5 months. For many years he resided on his ? farm on the Jefferson road, hut since the death of his wife he made his home with his daughter named. He was a successful farmer, and accumulated a great deal of this world's goods. Starting out in life he took as his moto, so briefly, punctuality, honesty and push, which he observed, and as a result was eminently successful in a financial point of view. His children who survive him are Mrs. John Loar of Richhill township; Frank R., of Rutan; Ex-County Treas. William and Warren D. Jacobs of this place; and Henry Jacobs of Harveys. The funeral took place Sunday, and was largely attended. Services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Wallace. Interment at Fairview M. P. Church.

    Elsie Beck Jacobs, 78, of Washington, died Monday, Nov. 26, 1990, in Washington Hospital.
    She was born in Washington County, a daughter of William Frederick and Loretta Gump Beck.
    Mrs. Jacobs was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Washington.
    She was employed by Caldwells Dept. Store for 25 years.
    On Dec. 25, 1943, in Espyville, she married William S. Jacobs, who survives.
    Also surviving are one sister, Vawn Edith Beck of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are one sister, Elizabeth Jane Toward; and four brothers, John, George, Thomas Ray and William Miller Beck.

    F. G. Jacobs, farmer, P O Rutan, was born in Greene County, Penna,  November 25, 1832. His father, Daniel Jacobs, was born in New Jersey. His  mother, whose maiden name was  Hannah Rayle, is a native of Maryland.  They were married in Greene County,  Penna, where they still reside.
    The  subject of this sketch was united in marriage, June 24, 1858, with
Catherine Nelson, who was born in this county, February 14, 1832. She is  a daughter of Samuel Nelson and Barbara Ranner Nelson. The former was  born in Virginia and the latter in Greene County, Penna, where they were  married and spent the remainder of their lives.
    Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs have seven children: Daniel Jacobs; Hannah Jacobs,  wife of  Melvin Headley; William R. Jacobs; Barbara E Jacobs; Mary B.  Jacobs; Henry Jacobs; and Delia M. Jacobs. In early life, Mr. Jacobs taught  school for a few years but subsequently devoted his time to farming. He  owns about 225 acres of land where he and family live.  Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs  are zealous members of the Methodist Protestant Church.


Former Graysville woman taught 25 years
    Flo Minton Jacobs, 90, of 154 West High Street, Waynesburg, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.
    She was born October 28, 1907, in Graysville, a daughter of Lowrie and Nancy Chess Minton.
    Mrs. Jacobs attended elementary school in Graysville, was a 1926 graduate of Richhill Township High School and attended Waynesburg College, where she received a standard teaching certificate on June 20, 1935.
    She taught elementary school for 25 years, beginning in a one-room schoolhouse in Graysville and later teaching at different locations throughout Greene County.
    Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, Waynesburg, and its Fidelis Sunday school class. She was a life member of Greene County Retired Teachers Association and the Pennsylvania and National Teachers' Associations.
    On June 11, 1927, she married John Harold Jacobs, who died March 13, 1981.
    Surviving are a grandson, Christopher Richard Jacobs of Brookline, Mass.; two sisters, Laura Williamson of Graysville and Dora Hamilton Jacobs of Thomaston, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.
    Deceased are a son, the Rev. J. Warren Jacobs; a granddaughter, Patricia Elizabeth Jacobs; a sister, Anna Jane Regalis; and a brother, George Minton.


Waynesburg, July 2- Mrs. Florence Martha Jacobs, 76, died at 11:30 P.M. Monday, July 1, 1946, in her home near Gordon Hill, Waynesburg, RD 3, after an illness of almost one year.
    She was born in Center Township, Jan. 18, 1870, and was a daughter of Hiram and Mary Iams Scott.
    In 1890, she married William R. Jacobs, who survives.
    Most of her life was spent in Franklin Township. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.
    She leaves her husband and four children, Dr. Donald R. Jacobs, Mrs. Grover C. Hughes and Charles Allen Jacobs, all of Waynesburg, and Ralph Jacobs of Waynesburg RD 3. One sister, Mrs. James R. Throckmorton, Waynesburg, and one brother, Charles Scott, Holbrook, RD; nine grand children and three great-grandchildren also survive. Two brothers, Dr. G. M. Scott and
Thomas Scott, are dead.


Pine Bank- Francis Joseph Jacobs, 56, of Pine Bank, died at 6 PM Tuesday, April 8, 1975 at the West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown.
    Born April 3, 1919 in Sand Rock, Ohio, he was the son of Mesbrach and Nancy Ellen Pendergrost Jacobs and is survived by three brothers; James and John, both of New Freeport, and Charles of Cameron, W. Va.
    Funeral services were held April 10, 1975 with burial in the Board Tree Cemetery, W. Va.

    A daughter of the late John L. and Jennie Stewart Tustin, she was born July 20, 1903, in Wayne Township and had resided all her life in Western Greene County. Her husband, Harry B. Jacobs, whom she married Sept. 29, 1923, died Dec. 28, 1967.
    Mrs. Jacobs was a member of the Rogersville Christian Church.
    She is survived by one son, John L. Jacobs, at home.

    Harrison C. Jacobs, aged 78 years, died at his home in Franklin township, Saturday, Jan. 25, following a prolonged illness. He was a son of Roseberry and Sarah Cochran Jacobs, and was born Jan. 2, 1863, in Monroe County, Ohio, but spent most of his life in Chicago, Ill., removing to this country about 8 years ago. He was a retired railroad man, and was a member of the Methodist
church. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. W. M.  Bell of Waynesburg, RD 3. Funeral services were held, Tuesday afternoon, in the George I. Church Funeral Home, Waynesburg. Interment was made in the Fairall cemetery.


    Rev. Dr. J. Warren Jacobs, 40, of Brookline, Mass., died of a heart attack at 2 A. M. Wednesday, July 3, 1985.
    He was born Dec. 29, 1944, in Durham, N.C., a son of Flo Minton Jacobs of Waynesburg and the late J. Harold Jacobs.
    He spent his early life in Waynesburg, Pittsburgh and Massachusetts. He was educated in the Waynesburg Public Schools and graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1962.
    He received a bachelor of arts degree from Waynesburg College in 1965. While attending college, he served as an assistant minister at Washington Street United Methodist Church.
    He graduated from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary with a bachelor of divinity degree and a master of theology degree. He was ordained into the ministry of the United Methodist Church in 1968, and received a Ph. D. from Boston University in 1976.
    He served as pastor in churches in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. He was an assistant to the bishop of the Southern New England United Methodist Conference. At the time of his death, he was the associate general secretary of the United Methodist General Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns.
    He also was a member of the Fort Jackson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janet Harrison Jacobs, whom he married July 3, 1965; and one son, Christopher Richard Jacobs, at home.  One daughter, Patricia Elizabeth Jacobs died Aug. 16, 1983.

    James Jacobs, 70, New Freeport "Deep Valley" died Wednesday, May 29, 1985, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 19, 1914, in Knob Fork, Marshall County, W. Va., to Mescheik M. and Nancy Allen Prendergast Jacobs. He formerly lived in Boardtree, W. Va.
    He was a Protestant.
    Surviving is a brother Charles Melvin Jacobs of Cameron RD 5, W. Va. "Boardtree". Deceased are three brothers, Lawrence, Franklin and John and a sister, Annie Jacobs.

    John M. Jacobs, 62, of Deep Valley was dead on arrival at Greene County Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 10, 1985.
    He was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Marshall County, W. Va., a son of Mech and Anna Pendergast Jacobs.
    Surviving are two brothers, Charles of Cameron RD 5 and James of Waynesburg RD 2.
    Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, Jan. 14, at Jacobs Cemetery, Boardtree, W. Ca.


    Miss Evelyn J. Jacobs, 49 of 249 West Franklin street Waynesburg, died at 10:20 A.M.,Saturday, August 4,1962, of a brain tumor in St. Francis General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after an illness of three weeks.,
    Miss Jacobs was born October 11,1912, at Rutan, a daughter of the late Henry C. Jacobs and Mrs. Alice Johnson Jacobs, of 249 West Franklin street, Waynesburg.
    She had been employed as a telephone operator at the South Penn Telephone Company, Waynesburg , for 14 years and had resided most of her life at Rutan prior to moving to Waynesburg 12 years ago.
    Miss Jacobs was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church, The Women's Society of Christian Service of the church , and the Daughters Ruth Sunday School class of the First Methodist Church of Waynesburg.
    Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Alice Jacobs; one brother, Cecil R Jacobs, of Holbrook, RD l; two half-sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hewitt, of
    Wind Ridge, and Mrs. Mildred Behm, of Bristoria; and one half-brother, Harry Jacobs, of Holbrook, Rdl.
    One brother, Francis Jacobs, is deceased.


Francis Gray Jacobs, farmer, PO, Rutan, was born in Greene County, Penn., November
25, 1832. His father, Daniel Jacobs, was born in New Jersey. His mother,  whose maiden name was Hannah Rayle, is a native of Maryland. They were  married in Greene County, Penn., where they still reside. The subject of this sketch was united in marriage, June 24, 1858, with Catharine Nelson,
who was born in this county February 14, 1832. She is a daughter of Samuel  and Barbara (Ranner - sic, should be Renner) Nelson. The former was born  in Virginia and the latter in Greene County, Penn., where they were married  and spent the remainder of their lives. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs have seven  children -- Daniel, Hannah, wife of Melvin Headley; William R., Barbara  E., Mary B., Henry and Delia M. In early life Mr. Jacobs taught school  for a few years, but subsequently devoted him time to farming. He owns  about 224 acres of land where he and family live. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs are  zealous members of the Methodist Protestant Church.

Pine Bank- Francis Joseph Jacobs, 56, of Pine Bank, died at 6 PM Tuesday, April 8, 1975 at the West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown.

    A daughter of the late John L. and Jennie Stewart Tustin, she was born July 20, 1903, in Wayne Township and had resided all her life in Western Greene County. Her husband, Harry B. Jacobs, whom she married Sept. 29, 1923, died Dec. 28, 1967.
    Mrs. Jacobs was a member of the Rogersville Christian Church.
    She is survived by one son, John L. Jacobs, at home.

Jacobs- Friends of Mrs. Georgia P. Jacobs of Holbrook, RD 1, who died Wed. Feb. 18, 1970, are being received in the Robert L. Lantz Funeral Home, Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday in charge of Rev. Frank Burchell. Burial to be in Rosemont Cemetery.


    Harry B. Jacobs, 71 of Holbrook, RD1, died at 4A.M. Thursday, December 28,1967, in the Oakland Veterans Hospital at Pittsburgh where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.
    He was born February 19,1896, near Rutan, a son of Henry C. and Anna Tilton Jacobs.
    His wife, Georgia Tustin Jacobs, whom he married September 29, 1923, survives
    Mr. Jacobs resided most of his life at Rogersville and for the past 12 years in Jackson Township.     He was a sandlot baseball player in his early years and worked in the steel mills. He was also a janitor at the Rogersville Elementary School, and for the past few years, had been a farmer and a stock raiser.
    He was a veteran of W.W.l and was a member of Fairview Methodist Church and the James Farrell Post 330 of the American Legion.
    Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John L. Jacobs, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hewitt, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Mildred Behm, of Holbrook, RD1, and a half-brother, Cecil Jacobs, of Holbrook, RDl.     A half-brother, Francis, and a half-sister, Evelyn are deceased.


Jacobs- Funeral services for J. Warren Jacobs, husband of Emma Dulaney Jacobs, of Waynesburg, who died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1917, will be held Sunday, March 2, at 2 P.M. at the Garrison Funeral Home on East High street. In charge of Rev. Lew F. Johnston. Friends will be received at the Garrison Funeral Home after noon today "Friday". Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery.


Wind Ridge- Lloyd B. Jacobs, 75, of RD 1, Wind Ridge "Sugar Grove", died Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 8 P.M. at his residence.
    Born March 12, 1908, in Washington, Pa., he was a son of the late W. D. and Metta Booher Jacobs.
    His wife Margaret Morris, whom he married May 3, 1932, survives.
    A 1928 graduate of Cameron High School, he was a farmer and had spent most of his life in Sugar Grove.
    Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jack "Ruth Ann" Donnalley of Salem, Ohio; a son, Robert Jacobs of RD 1, Wind Ridge; a sister, Mrs. Marion "Helen" Scothoin of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
    Deceased are two brothers, Frank R. Jacobs and Wayne Jacobs.

Waynesburg: March 5-Mrs. Mattie B. Jacobs, 75, died at 11:30 A. M. today in her home near Cameron.
    Mrs. Jacobs, a daughter of Isaac and Rebecca Barnett Booher, was born Aug. 6, 1871, at Ryerson Station, Richhill Township, Greene County, Pa.
    She was the wife of W. D. Jacobs and last Christmas Day they observed her 50th wedding anniversary. She was a graduate of Waynesburg College and for several years she was a school teacher. She was a member of the South Wheeling Baptist Church,    at Ryerson Station.
    Surviving in addition to her husband, are three children, Lloyd and Frank, both of Cameron, RD and Mrs. Marion W. Scothorn, of Cameron; two sisters, Mrs. Dillie B. Inghram, Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Bertie B. Carpenter, Graysville, Pa.; nine    grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.    One son, Wayne, is deceased. Two grandchildren are in military service.


Waynesburg- Nellie Church Jacobs of 27 S Richhill St. Waynesburg, died at 12:15 P.M. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 1980 at the Greene County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
    She was born in Rogersville, a daughter of the late Charles Homer and Harriet
Lightner Church.
    In 1927, she married Dr. Donald R. Jacobs, who died in 1962.
    She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Waynesburg, the Daughters of
Ruth and the United Methodist Women of the church.
    She was educated in the Center Township public and high schools, and received
a B. S. in Education from Waynesburg College.
    She was a retired teacher and housewife, and belonged to several organizations including the Retired Teachers Association, the Eastern Star Emerald Chapter 135 (for over 50 years), the White Shrine Bethesda Chapter 25, Amaranth, the Christopher  Gist Chapter of the Daughters of American
Colonists (and a past regent), the John Corbly Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mothers' Study Club, the Waynesburg Library Club, the American Legion Auxiliary 8 and 40 ( and a past president), the John Corbly Society, the Waynesburg College Alumni Ass., the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Elks, the Rebeccas, the Alpha Gamma Theta Sorority, the Sigma Kappa Sorority,
the Womens' Auxiliary to the Greene County Medical Society, the Albert Gallatin Chapter of the Daughters of 1812, the Greene County Senior Citizens' Club and the Daughters of the Nile.
    She is survived by two sons, Charles C. Jacobs of Cambridge, Ohio and Dr. Donald W. Jacobs of  York, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. William "Marjorie" Pace of Fairfax, Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Fred "Jeannette" Gillogly of Waynesburg; and seven grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. John "Clara" Johnson.

Behm Funeral Home, Waynesburg on Friday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Saturday from 2 to 4 P.M.  and 7 to 9 P.M. and Sunday from noon to 2:30 P.M., the hour of the service in the funeral home with the Rev. George Shultzabarger officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont
Cemetery, Rogersville. The following organizations will hold services Saturday evening March 1, -   White Shrine -(Bethesda 25)- at 7 P.M..; the Emerald Chapter of the Eastern Star 135 at 7:30 P.M. and the Rebecca Lodge at 8 P.M.


William L. Jacobs, ages 67, who resided on Smith Creek, died, Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 8, 1916, at 2:30 o'clock of heart trouble. He had been in his usual health and was in Waynesburg Tuesday. Mr. Jacobs had lived his entire life on Smith Creek. He married Miss Leah Lapping, who survives. Two children are also living, Roy Jacobs of Smith Creek and Mrs. Jacob Sappington of
Waynesburg. Mr. Jacob followed farming as a pursuit. He was a member of the Christian church. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 O'clock, briefly at the Jacobs home and afterwards in the Pleasant Ridge Christian church. The Rev. J. P. Allison, pastor of the Waynesburg Christian church, will have charge. Interment in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
