According to "M&D Records from Steuben Co. NY Newspapers he died 12/20/1848 at age 70. Article indicated he was a pioneer of Prattsburg and a patron and trustee of Franklin Academy. According to "Marriages & Deaths in the NY Herald a Josiah Allis died Jan 3, 1849. Marriage date according to Windsor Smith; Marriage location according to 1994 IGI According to "History of Whately" by JH Temple he was Whately Town Treasurer from 1787-90 & Assessor from 1783-93. 1824 after his death. According to Tree Talks v26-3 (LR-C41) his tombstone give death data as 27 Nov 1848According to michigan land records on Mar 8, 1837 he owned 160 acres 8N 14 E of Detroit
