Christening* | 15 Feb 1785 | at Scarinish, Tyree, ARL, SCT, this is a patron submission and has Scarinish as the place3,4 |
Birth | c. 1786 | on Tyree, ARL, SCT, assumes correct id in 1851, but as the one I found had the only Hector of near the right age to be Donald's son, in Scotland it seems likely. The other Hectors in 1851 to choose from were:a 23 yr old in Morven, Argyll, s/o John and Anne, so right age and county, wrong parents; a 25 yr old in Glairloch, ROC (didn't check that entry as wrong county); The only Lanarkshire one was a 4 yr old in Glasgow5 |
Marriage* | 30 Jan 1810 | Tyree, ARL, entry reads: Donald Cameron & Cath McKinnon in Cornaigmore were married, Bride=Catherine McKinnon6,1,7 |
Death* | 9 Nov 1868 | at Cornaigmore, Tyree, ARL, SCT, of natural decay from old age, at 4pm, no medical attendant, widower of Catherine McKinnon, s/o Archibald Cameron, crofter and Margaret m.s. McLean, both dec. inf. son John X his mark, present at dth, reg. Tyree, 14th Nov, InformantForFather=John Cameron2 |
PotentlDup* | | both were married to Catherine McKinnons and having children at the same time. To help others avoid similar confusion, I've included both families on the web, with a bit of license in that I've shifted all unconfirmed children into the second family as well so as not to clutter up Chris' Donald and Catherine. This may be a bit of licesnse on my behalf however, heaven help us if there were three families, PotDupRejtd=Donald Cameron8 |

Census* | 7 Apr 1861 | at Cornaigmore Farm, Tyree, Par of Tyree St Coll, ARL, SCT, CAMERON: Donald, widower, 79, pauper; Dtr Christina 29, pauper's dtr, both b Tyree although her age is 7 yrs shy of reality if I've picked the right christening!!, Daughter=Christina Cameron10 |
Note4Web* | | Although the IGI has a number of childen listed for a couple of this name, and shown in previous versions of this web page, they were mostly, then, unconfirmed. The dates given would be technically possible, provided Catherine was barely more than 20 when she married Donald. Remembering that there might be two couples of the same names, I checked out the closeness of the births and only found two possible overlaps: Betty followed rather quickly on Archibald's 1810 heels, and the 1823 Ann likewise on the 1822 Mary's, but otherwise all look feasible, but tiring on poor Catherine. I have only begun sorting these out into the two separate families that do indeed exist, one lived Cornaigmore, the other at Balephuill. And the date spread I was suspicious about, still holds, poor Catherine was having children from 1810 thru to 1831, Principal=Catherine McKinnon11 |
