  • Advent Cemetery: Moose Run Road, Milesburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania USA Located in Boggs Township. Advent Cemetery Association P.O. Box 130 Milesburg PA 16853 Directions: At Milesburg Routes 150 and 220 cloverleaf take the exit to Yarnell. This is Moose Run Road. Go 2.4 miles to cemetery and church on right.

    Henry ESTRIGHT's Civil War Records and Pension: He is buried along the road at the Advent Cemetery. He enlisted in Holidaysburg, PA. w/ the 208th PA. Volunteers on 23 Sep 1864 for a 1 year stint. His pension request papers claim that he suffered a "rupture" while the unit was falling back in an engagement at Fort Steadman, VA. He was crossing a ditch and fell, was never treated for it and it became worse over the years. It seems when he was 59 (1887) he filed for the pension because he was finding that working was becoming too painful. The papers list him as a "Collier" before the war and employed in "coaling" and wood chopping after the war. He is listed as living in the counties of Huntingdon and entre since the war and now residing at Wingate. He died 25 Nov 1892 and his widow had to file to claim his pension. The papers state that they were married on 17 Jul 1856 in Altoona, Centre Co. PA. The "Application For Accrued Pension" lists her maiden name as being Sarah Margaret SWISHER. The "Declaration for Widow's Pension" gives the names of all children under 16 who were living in the house at that time (28 Nov 1892) They are: Florence Belle ESTRIGHT b. 27 Jul 1878 and Susan May ESTRIGHT b. 4 Sep 1883. Some of the papers list the widow as Sarah Margaret ESTRIGHT and some as Margaret M. ESTRIGHT.(Source: Ben RANNEY 30 May 2001 12:55 pm)
