8 Apr. 1956 Monday - Centre Daily Times: Mrs. Lida A. HOOVER, 88, Axemann died at her home in Axemann yesterday at 6 a.m. She was a resident of the community all of her life.
Mrs. HOOVER was born at Axemann 5 Jul. 1868, a daughter of James & Mary Jane RHODES_HUGHES. Her husband, William R. HOOVER, whom she married in 1892, survives.
Two sons, Wilbur and Fearon HOOVER, Flint Michigan; a foster son Vernon ALLEN, Willamsport: five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Zion.
The service will be held at the Wetzler Funeral Home, Bellefonte, Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Theodore S. MILLER, Pleasant Gap, officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Democratic Watchman 8 Feb. 1895: The 16 month's old girl of William HOOVER of Axemann died in convulsions on Monday. She had been sick with the whooping cough which turned into pneumonia and ended the babe's life. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
