Dorothy DOWSE, 93 of Sargent died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at her daughter's home in rural Sargent.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Sargent, Nebraska. The Reverand Marty ROBBINS will officiate. Music was provided by Don SCHAUDA.

Burial will be in the Somerford Cemetery southwest of Sargent. RHOAD Funeral Home of Sargent in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Dorothy was the third of four daughters born to Samuel and Dora A. ROTH_WALTON on July 29, 1913, at the family farm near Comstock. At the age of 8, Dorothy moved with her family to a farm in Somerford Valley, southwest of Sargent. This remained her home her entire life. Dorothy attended grade school at Somerford and graduated from Sargent High School in 1931.

She married Curtis DOWSE on June 17, 1933. They were fond of one another since preschool age. To this union was born one son and two daughters.

Dorothy was a very loving person, she had a great passion for her family and she loved rocking all the new babies when they arrived. She had a gift of making people feel welcome and comfortable at her home. There was always a meal at her kitchen table and her homemade biscuits were a favorite at family gatherings.

Dorothy always had a large garden and had enjoyed gardening since she was a child. She took great pride and satisfaction in all her canned garden produce.

She was a faithful member of the Chippers Extension Club for more than 60 years. She also enjoyed attending the church circle. She was a member of the Sargent Church of Christ. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Joyce DOWSE of Sargent; and a daughter and son-in-law, Doralea and Conrad SUTTON of Sargent.

Also surviving are a son-in-law, Don GOELZ of Purcell, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Jackie and Louie ROPERS Jr. , Sheila and Tracy ADKISSON, Kelly and Bill SANER, LuAnn and Troy SCHAUDA, Christy GOELZ, Craig and Chris GOELZ, Tanya and Chad STECKER, Tracy SUTTON and John SUTTON; and 12 great-grandchildren, Tabbi, A.J. and Katie ROPERS, Jenny LANDEN, Sara and Dillan SANER, Savannah & Colton GOELZ, Tallin SCHAUDA and Erin, Jordan and Katie ADKISSON.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; her parents; a daughter, Mary Lou GOELZ; three sisters, Marcia KNIGHT, Jesse WILLHOIT and Ethel STRAIGHT and a brother, Ormand PIERCE.
