Sarah "Sally" AMBROSE was born in 1801.11 She was living in 1831 in Montgomery County, Missouri.33 She appeared in the census in 1840 in Upper Loutre Township, Montgomery County, Missouri.34 Sarah appeared in the census in 1850 in Montgomery County, Missouri.35 Sarah "Sally" AMBROSE and Richard STEVENS were married on 3 July 1829 in Clay (now Owsley) County, Kentucky.33 They moved to Montgomery Co., Missouri ca 1831. Richard STEVENS33 was born between 1790 and 1800 in Virginia.33 He died between 1840 and 1849 at the age of 50 in Montgomery County, Missouri.33 He had his estate probated on 28 April 1849 in Montgomery County, Missouri.33 Letters of administration to Hiram A. STEVENS. Published 6 July 1849 in the Fulton Telegraph, Callaway County area newspaper. Richard served in the military in War of 1812.33 2nd Reg. VA Militia "STEVENS - Richard Stevens was a noted hunter and trapper. He married Sally Ambrose, and settled in Montgomery county in 1831. The first day after his arrival in Montgomery he killed six deer, and during his residence in the county he killed 400 deer, 40 bears, and so many wild cats, raccoons, etc., that he could not keep an account of them. He had six children -- Hiram A., Emily, Willis, Lucretia, Virginia, and Joseph. Hiram A. married Sarah A. Garrett, and lives in Montgomery county. Emily married Evans B. Scale, and also lives in Montgomery county. The rest of the children settled in other states."
