He served in the military in the Civil War.38,47 Company C, 47th Kentucky Infantry. Served under his cousin, Captain Andrew H. CLARK. Enlisted as a Private on September 26, 1863, at the age of 18. Mustered out as a corporal, with his unit on December 26, 1864, at Lexington, Kentucky. He applied for a pension in 1879 and was granted $15/month.
