evening, Oct 18, 1932, at 8 o'clock at the home of her daughter, MRS P E
BODILY,
717 South
Twelfth St, MRS ELIZABETH HARDCASTLE, age 72 years. She is survived by her
husband,
W J HARDCASTLE and the following chidren, MRS P E BODILY, this city; MRS
LUCY
WOOLDRIDGE of Milwaukee, WI; MRS DELLA RAMSEY of Gladysville, TN and the
following
brothers, H T, A, CEBE, HENRY and LIGE PATE. Funeral from the Shelby Ave
Baptist
Church tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the Rev P F
LANGSTON.
The
following friends will serve as pallbearers, WILLIE OBRIEN, J W HUDSON,

SOUTH, R L VANTRESSE, L F SCARBORO, and WILLIAM DAVIS. Interment at
Springhill
Cemetery, Crafton Funeral Home, 625 Boscobel St. 3-2171
HENRY
PATE (d. 26 Mar 1938 - 16.6.4.4)
Dies at
Salt Lick home. 26 Mar 1938. HENRY PATE, aged 73 , died at his home on Salt
Lick
Saturday
after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Pate was a man of many fine traits of
character
and
respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are
six
children, WALTER and JOHN PATE, of Dixon Springs, NOLAN and DOW PATE, at home,
MRS
CRAIGHEAD and MRS WITCHER, of Nashville. three brothers, S L PATE, HAMP PATE,
and
AMZIRE PATE. Besides these many other relatives and friends mourn his death.
Funeral
services
were conducted Sunday by Rev SUDDARTH and Rev W M DYCUS. Burial in the
grave
yard near the home.

B PATE (d. 10 Nov 1933 - 16.6.4.5)
Lafayette,
TN, Nov 14. ELIJAH PATE, 65, a farmer of the Salt Lick section of Jackson Co,
died
Friday afternoon. Surviving are his wife, MRS DAISY PATE, four brothers, SEBERT
L PATE,
of
Gainesboro and EMZIRE, HENRY and HAMP PATE of the Salt Lick section.

L MARTIN (d. 26 Mar 1933 - 32.9.4.3)
PENELOPE
PATE MARTIN was born Sep 23, 1844 and departed this life, Mar 26, 1933, age
88 yrs, 6
mos and 3 days. She was married to THOMAS L MARTIN Mar 22, 1863 (1868?) who
preceded
her in death some 20 years, making their married life some 45 years. To this
union
was born
6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls, all surviving their father and mother as
follows:

MARTIN, of Old Hickory, TN, MISS MAGGIE MARTIN, MISS CARRIE MARTIN,
MR
COURTNEY MARTIN and MRS MINNIE CORNWALL of Gladdice, TN, MR C H MARTIN of
Highland,
TN, also 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, a great host of friends and
other
relatives
to mourn her death. She became a Christian by repentance toward God and faith
toward
Christ,
was born into God's kingdom at the age of 17 years at old Syrna near Granville,
and
united
with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and for 71 years lived a beautiful
Christian life.
She was a
loving companion, a kind hearty mother, a good neighbor. She will be sadly
missed by
all, but
most by her children. She always had a kind word and a smile of sunshine for
all whom she
came in
personal contact. Weep not, dear children, as those who have no hope. Sleep on,
dear Mother,
until we meet again. Funeral services were conducted by the writer at the home
of
the
deceased and the remains were laid to rest in the family grave yard. W M DYCUS

LULA MAI PATE (d. 27 May 1937 - 16.6.4.6.1)
On May
27, 1937, death visited the home of MR & MRS J H PATE and carried their
baby girl
home to
heaven. LULA MAI was 2 years, 5 mos and 22 days old. She is survived by her
father
and
mother, brother and sister, CORUL DALE and WILMA DENE PATE, three grandparents,
MR &
MRS J A PORTERFIELD, MR H T PATE, three great-grandparents, three aunts, two
uncles,
and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her death. Funeral services were
conducted
Thursday
afternoon by Rev E L KNOWLES and Bro DYCUS with burial in the Pate Cemetery.

PATE, SR (d. 6 Nov 1947 - 16.6.4.3.1)
Dies in
Fort Worth, TX (1947). News was received by MR S L PATE Thursday afternoon,
Nov 6th,
that his son, A M PATE, SR, had passed
away at the Fort Worth Memorial Hospital at
3:00 that
day. Mr. Pate had been in ill health for several months prior to his death. A M
PATE, SR
was the oldest of six children born to S L
PATE and the late MRS. PATE. He was born and
reared in
Jackson Co. After graduation from the grade school in Gainesboro, he taught in
the
County
for two years and attended Murfreesboro Normal for two years. At the outbreak
of
World War
I, Mr Pate enlisted for service and was sent to France for overseas service. On
his
return
from service he was married to MISS MARIE FARNSWORTH, with whom he became
acquainted
while attending school in Murfreesboro. He became a salesman for the old Zone
Oil Co of
Cleveland, OH and in a short time became their top salesman. Somewhat later he
became connected with the old Oriental Oil Co of Dallas, TX. He and Mrs Pate moved to Dallas,
and
established their home and he immediately became their leading salesman. After
several
successful
years with the Orienal Oil Co, he and CARL WOLLNER, whom he met in Dallas, went
to Fort
Worth and organized the Panther Oil & Grease Mfg Co, on Sep 9, 1922. CARL
WOLLNER
was
President and A M, Vice-President up to the death of Mr. Wollner, Jul 7, 1945,
then A M
was
elected by the Directors of the Company to the Presidency. Mr. Pate is survived
by his
wife, and
two sons; A M PATE, JR, Vice President of the Panther Oil & Grease Co, and
SEBERT
PATE, who is a member of the Sales Dept of this company. Other survivors are
his
father, S
L PATE, step-mother, MRS S L PATE, and a brother, I B PATE of Gainesboro; a
brother,
FLAVEY PATE, and sister, MRS RUBY WILLIAMS of Fort Worth, TX. Funeral services
were held
at the Presbyterian Church in Forth Worth Saturday morning at 10:00 with
interment
in a Fort
Worth Cemetery.
