Matthew PowellI have been
trying to find information on the my GG Grandfather Issaac Powell who married
Margaret McGrath (McGraw?) in County Down, Ireland approximately 1845.
They migrated to Canada in 1850 and then to Victoria, Australia in 1855,
leaving from New York, USA. All the certificates of birth and death for
their children list County Down as their places of birth and marriage but
not the town where these events took place. I would be interested in corresponding
with any Powells who can trace their ancestry to County Down. I live in
Perth, Western Australia.
Regards
Matthew Powell

Powell b. 1794[who was a doctor] m. Isabella Unknown b. 1788, both born
GA, who knows where? They were in Rutherford County, TN in 1830 where my
great gfather[Alexander Wise Youngblood Powell] was born in Feb 1830. They
already had daughter Elva b. ca 1815, William E. b. 1818. [William E was
Methodist Preacher in 1870 in Summerville, Chattooga County, GA.] About
1836 this family including son William already on his own, moved to Walker
County, GA, then by 1845 Dr. Thomas and William were buying land in GA.
His other children included James R, b. 1817; Martha, b. 1826; Alexander,
b. 1830; Louisa b. 1832. All children born TN. I need information of where
Thomas and Isabella were born. Later, Oliver Conrad Powell, son of Alexander,
married Annie C. Unknown January 17, 1895. They had one daughter Lennie
Irene Powell. Oliver Conrad divorced Annie C. August 3, 1903 at Griffin,
Spaulding County, GA. They had lived in Forsyth County, GA. My main question
was where Thomas and Isabella came from in GA before they went to TN. The
county they went to in 1836 had been Cherokee land, without white people
until 1832. Thanks for any suggestions and help.

getting information on my grandfather, Oliver Powell, who came supposedly
either from New Jersey or Kentucky, moved to Morgantown, West Virginia
in the early 1900's, married Mary Jane Hilling, and died in Morgantown

DorothySearching for info
on my Powell line. My 5th great grandparents were John Powell, Sr. who
married Mary Cromwell; 4th great grandparents John Powell whose spouse
was Alice Brewer, 3rd great grandparents were James Powell and Rebecca
Bynum, then Green "Berry" Powell who married Martha "Patsey" Tidmore, great
grandparents were Henry Carl Powell and Lela Harrison (second wife). This
is about all I know on this line. There is a note on this research that
Mary Cromwell was a direct descendant of the famed Oliver Cromwell, but
no proof of this. I would be so happy to hear from someone who might have
done research on anyone in my Powell line. This has been a difficult family
to trace since there are many James and John Powells.

J. Paul Sides I'm still
trying to locate any information on my g-grandfather David Frank Powell.
Died June 1902 in Lindale, Texas. I went to the library today in Smith
County to look for obits. They had no newspapers on film for that year.
I'm new to genealogy and have had some success with other branches
of my family tree. This one is frustrating. My father is an only child.
His mother was an only child. Her dad, David Frank, died 9 months after
she was born. It appears that her parents were only married for a couple
of years before his death. So...hardly anything is known about this side
of my family.

Alex I am from Malta.
I would like to know something about our Powell family in England. My grandfather,
Percy Powell, was born on 14 Sept. 1895 in Burn St.Winnow RB.(according
to the birth certificate) There he lived in the county of Cornwall, Sub-district
Lanlivery. Registration district: Bodmin. Though not registered, I think
that Torquay was a place he lived in as well. His parents were James (occupation:
farmers hand) and Hannah maiden Cooms. Percy was in the Royal Navy which
eventually took him to Malta where he married Helen Gordon in Nov. 1917.
They settled in Malta. He died in 1954. Presumably he had about 13 siblings,
three of them may be Walter, Mabel, Sarah. Any information would help me
and my family to know our far away family better.
Thank you,
Alex Powell

StephI am trrying to
locate my Father's [1905-1988] father whom he never knew except by name--Elwell
M. Powell, supposed to be born in Jacksonville, Fl about 1885. We have
a newspaper obit [ sent by a sister Alice Walden in 1963] with no date
[probably late 1950s] saying he was buried in Gainesville, Fl. was a Railway
Conductor and a member of their society as well as a Mason. Survived by
two other sisters , Allene Fairly, Mrs J. Geiger, and a widow, Katherine
Powell.
In my fathers papers was also a picture of a man 45-55 years old dressed
abt 1900 garb, taken in a studio in Jacksonville. On the back in pencil
is written Benjamin H. Powell. I think he may have been either father or
uncle to Elwell. He would have been born abt 1850s or early 1860s.. I would
really like some help with the history of These two men,at least one a
close ancestor.
Thanks.

Welch to Aaron Powell, for one (1) shilling, to him and to the heirs begotten
of the body of his daughter Ann Welch, his wife, land on branches of Tomahawk

born 1754 in Chesterfield Co. Va, died 30 May 1855 in Bedford Co. Va.,
married Susanna Taylor on 17 Jan 1781 in Chesterfield Co. Va. They had

in Bedford Co. Va., died 16 Nov 1870 in Franklin Co. Va., married Sarah
Divers 16 May 1818 in Franklin Co. Va. Edward and Sarah had five children.
Their son, William Aaron Powell (my g-grandfather), born 12 Feb 1821 in
Franklin Co., died 26 Jul 1882 in Franklin Co, married Julia Anne Dillon
