| Notes for Alfred T. "Al" NEWHALL | ||||||||||||
| - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - of Belfast ME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Al was obviously very familiar with the trees and plants that grew in the woods. He would tell us about them and point out those that were poisonous and should be avoided and those that were beneficial and could be used for food and medicine. | Notes for Carrie Luella FURBUSH | ||||||||||||
| - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Carrie Luella, b. 1869, Feb. 17. [ref 13:446] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Carrie was small and vivacious and in many ways ahead of her time. She threw open her bedroom window every morning when she got up, summer and winter, and did strenuous calisthenics in her nightgown. She also shocked the community by taking a dip in the ocean every day. Everything new was a great challenge and exciting experience. Carrie studied nursing at the Maine General Hospital in Portland and was head nurse there when she met John.
