Quinton Pray came to Lynn, MA in 1643 (perhaps in the ship "Ann Cleeve" of London. He was at Lynn, MA in 1645, and was a debtor in 1655 to the estate of John Foote.

The name Pray is derived from the French Pre, which means "meadow", and was first taken as a surname by those who were early residents at a place so-called in France. Since the Pray family came to America from England, the inference is that the name was taken into England by the French Prostestants or Hugenots in the 16th century.

Quentin came to Lynn with Richard in 1645. He was still a resident of that place in 1655 and was one of the earliest settlers at Braintree, MA, where he is believed to have left at least one child, a daughter named Hannah. [source: Genealogy of Pray Family of Rhode Island, RI Historical Library]
