Anthony, carpenter, soldier in Philip's War. In N.H. 14 Nov. 1678 he was app. adm. on his bro. James's est. In 1681 was on committee to procure timber for building the Scarboro fort. Next yr. rem. to Falmouth (South Portland), where he m. Sarah (Drake), sis. of Capt. Anthony Brackett's wife, and in 1685 rem. to her native town, Hampton where he settled in the region now Rye or Greenland. Will 20 Feb. - 5 Mar. 1717-8 names w. Jane (Rackley, wid. of Wm., m. 6 Jan. 1717-8) and 7 ch. She was still his wid. 25 Mar. 1723-4. Ch: Sarah, Abraham, Mary, Isaac, Hannah, Jacob, Jane. [ref 22]

ANTHONY LIBBY, born in Scarborough, about 1649; married SARAH DRAKE, born 20 Aug. 1656, daughter of Abraham and Jane Drake, of Hampton, N. H. Anthony Libby was a carpenter. He lived in his native town until some years after Philip's war. In May, 1681, he was one of a committee chosen to purchase timber for buildings g a "fort", Scottow's garrison. In November following, he was taxed for 50 acres of land, 6 acres of marsh, 1 cow, 2 hogs, and 1 mare. In the first part of 1682, he moved to Falmouth. There he found his wife, who was a sister of the wife of Anthony Brackett of that place. In 1685, he removed to her native town of Hampton, and settled in the northeast part of that town, subsequently set off to Rye. His wife died 12 June 1716. He married second, 6 Jan. 1717-18, Jane Rackley of Portsmouth, and lived only a few weeks. Children: Sarah, Mary, Abraham, Isaac, Hannah, Jacob, Jane. [ref 25:27]

WILL of ANTHONY LIBBY, 20 Feb 1717/8 - 5 Mar 1717/8: In the name of God Amen. The twentieth day of February 1717 {1718} Anthony Lebe of Hampton in the Province of New Hampshire in New England farmer being very sick and week in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind ye mortality of my body & knowing it is appointed for all men once to Dye do make & ordain this my last will & Testament. That is to say Principally & first of all I give & Recomend to ye earth to be buried in decent Christian buriall at ye Descretion of my Executor nothing doubting byt at ye Generall Resurection I shall receive ye same again by ye mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give Devise & Dispose of ye same in ye following manner & form

Imprimis. I Give to Jean my dearly beloved wife my orchard those trees that are mine my pasture as far as ye barn & my great Bason one Cow & he white faced heifer & Thirty pounds in money & my great Pat. & a piece of surge in ye chest four sheep and pasturing the west end of my house all during her widowhood & no longer.

2ndly I Give to my well beloved son Abraham Lebe a calf & his son Joseph one sheep

3rdly I give to my well beloved son Isaac Lebe two sheep & one half of my cove of marsh

4thly I give to my well beloved Daughter Sarah six pounds money,

5thly I give to my well beloved Daughter Mary Six pounds money

6thly I give to my well beloved Daughter Hannah twenty shillings money

7thly I give my well beloved Daughter Jane my brass Kettle & ye red mantle & two sheep & a cow on marriage day
8thly I give to my well beloved son Jacob Lebe whom I likewise constitute make ordain my sole Executor to this my last will & testament all & sungular of my houses edifices
