Hampt. 16 Dec. 1678, Scarb., Portsmouth, Eliot. Aft. Philip's War he liv. in Scarb. till driven by the next war. Aft. hiring a farm in Portsm., of Richard Jackson, he bot in Eliot with two Libbys. Const. 1688. Will 14 July 1747, d. 9 June 1755. He mar. Hannah Libby, liv. 1730. By their grson's acct. they had 4 ch. b. in Scarb., 5 in Portsmouth, 2 in Kit. Ch: Son, Hannah, Mary, Rebecca, Samuel, Daniel, John, Sarah, Joseph, Seth, James. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - He was a son of Samuel Fogg, of Hampton, N. H., supposed to have come from Wales. Daniel Fogg learned the blacksmith's trade, and settled at Black Point as early as 1681. At the breaking up of the settlement in 1690, he removed to Portsmouth, and about ten years later to Kittery, now Eliot, Me. There he died, in 1755, having outlived his wife many years. [ref 15] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Daniel Fogg, was born 16 April 1660, removed to Scarborough, Me., and thence to Portsmouth, N. H., in 1690. About 1700 he settled in what is now Eliot. He married Hannah, dau. of John Libby of Scarborough about 1684 and died 9 June 1755. His wife died between 1730 and 1735. Children: Hannah, Daniel, Mary, Rebecca, Samuel, Sarah, John, Joseph, Seth, James. [ref 33:404] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Daniel Fogg of Scarboro and later Kittery, Maine (though legally Massachusetts until 1820; the name Massachusetts is never used as it would cause confusion. Berwick is at present the name of a town formerly part of Kittery. But Daniel never lived in Berwick; he lived in what is now Eliot, and the original acres are still owned by the family); b. 12th June, 1660; d. 9th June, 1755; ae 95; m. 1684, Hannah Libby, b. possibly in England, about 1656, d. probably in Kittery, Maine, dau. of John, and his first wife ___ Libby of Scarboro, he b. 1602, d. 1682; he first Libby in America, and settled as Trelawney's agent on Richmonds Island, Scarboro, in 1630. Issue: Hannah, Daniel, Mary, Samuel, Rebecca, Sarah, John, Joseph, Seth, James. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WILL of DANIEL FOGG 25 Jul 1747 - 7 July 1755: In the Name of God Amen. I Daniel Fogg of Kittery in the County of York Yeoman, being aged & infirm, and not knowing the time of my Death do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament; principally & first of all, I recomend my Soul to God my Creator hoping for Pardon & Acceptance thr" Christ, and my Body to the Earth to be decently buried (after my Decease) by my Executor hereafter named as he Shall think convenient; And as touching such Worldly Estate as God hath been pleased to bless me with in this Life, I give devise & dispose of the Same in the following Manner Vizt Impr I give & bequeath unto my Son James Fogg all my Estate real & Personal be the Same Lands Houses Cattle Chattels Goods, Household Goods, Moneys Debts Dues Interests Inheritance Property Rights & Claims in all & every Place & Places whatsoever & wheresoever nothing excepted or reserved of any kind or quality. To Have & To Hold unto him my Said Son Iames Fogg & his Heirs forever he my Said Son James Fogg paying to his Brothers & others hereafter named Such Legacys as is hereafter express't. Item. I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Son Daniel Fogg two Shillings & Six pence new Tenr Bills of publick Credit. Item. I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Sons John Fogg, Joseph Fogg & Seth Fogg to each of them two Shillings and Six pence in New Tenor Bills of publick Credit. Item. My said four Sons, Daniel John Joseph & Seth have had Gifts & Lands of me already which with ye aforementioned two Shillings & Six pence to each of them Shall be the whole of their portions of my Estate. Item. I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Hannah Rogers Fifty Shillings new Tenr Bills of publick Credit. Item. I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Rebecca Pilsbury Fifteen Shillings in like Bills. Item. I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Sarah Hanscom Fifty Shillings new Tenr Bills of publick Credit. Item. I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Grand Children the Children of my Daughter Mary Brooks Decd Fifty Shillings in new Tenor Bills of publick Credit to be equally divided between them all that Shall Survive me, And if any of them die leaving issue Such Issue Shall have that portion which belonged to the Deceased in Case they had lived. Item. I make & appoint my well beloved Son James Fogg the Sole Executor of this my last Will ordering & appointing him to pay the Several Legacys & Bequests before mentioned in convenient time after my Decease. And I do hereby revoke adnull & make void all & every Will & Wills Testaments Legacys & Bequests by me heretofore made either by word or Writing, ratifying & allowing this & no other to be my last Will & Testament.
