John, carpenter, settled south of Oak Hill, Scarb. He m. 10 Nov. 1726 Mary Miller. He d. ab. 1767, she 23 Oct. 1780. Her unprov. will, dated 16 Mar. 1768 is with the Lancaster Ma., Me. Hist. Soc. 10 ch. [ref 22]

JOHN LIBBY, born in Portsmouth, N. H., probably in the year 1702; married, 10 Nov. 1726, MARY MILLER, dau. of Benjamin and Lydia (Fernald) Miller of Portsmouth. He removed to Scarborough with his brother James. He was a carpenter, but his chief occupation was farming. He lived on the western slope of Oak Hill, and died probably in the spring of 1767. His widow died 23 Oct. 1780. Children 1728-49: Phebe, Benjamin, Eleanor, Jonathan, Jotham, Abigail, Lydia, Joab, Josiah, Mary. [ref 25:55]
