DEA. BENJAMIN LIBBY, born in Berwick, 18 Jan. 1758; married 15 Sept. 1779, POLLY HEARL. He was a Revolutionary soldier. He was taken prisoner and confined at Charleston, S. C., and when he was freed, walked all the way home. Soon after his marriage, he settled in Lebanon, and cleared the farm now occupied by George Frank Libby, 1-6-9-3-1-7-1. While in Lebanon he was a deacon of the Baptist church; also in Albion, whither he removed in 1818--in all forty years. He died in Albion, 24 May 1834. His widow died 19 July 1845. Children: Dorcas, John, Wentworth, Benjamin, Oliver, Lucy, Daniel, Polly, Nabby, Isaac. [ref 25:108]
