| - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - DEA. JOHN LIBBY, born in Berwick, Me., 2 Jan. 1768; married, 27 Feb. 1791, MARY GOWEN, daughter of Patrick and Abigail (Woodsum) Gowen of Berwick. He lost his father at an early age, and served his time at the tanner's trade, at Blackberry Hill, with Patrick Gowen. He afterward married his daughter, and settled on wild land on Mount Hope, Sanford, where he ended his days. His chief occupation was farming, but he also carried on tanning, currying, and shoemaking. He was deacon of the Calvin Baptist church in East Lebanon. His wife died 17 Dec. 1850. He died 25 Nov. 1851. Children 1793-1818: Elias, Draxcy, Aphia, Adah, Ebenezer, Aphia, John, Ivory, Charles, Draxcy, Rhoda, Otis.
