His 1st appear. is his m. rec. to Elizabeth (Goodwin), wid. of Zach. Emery in Berw. 22 Dec. 1692. Fined (remitted) for non-appear. as Gr.j. 1698. Gr.j. 1699; pub. ho. lic. 1704-09. Constable 1702; Selectm. 1703; Treas. of parish 1707; chosen Selectm., Town Treas. and Highw. Surv. 5 Aug. 1713, but soon d. Inv. 22 Feb. 1713-4 incl. carpenter and joiner's tools, much livestock, a negro woman. Wid. d. bef. 16 Dec. 1736 when her 3 ds were divid., the homestead then val. at �1000. Ch: Philip, John, Elizabeth, Moses, Aaron, Patience, Mary, b. 25 Jan. 1705, m. John Bean; d. 1744. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hubbard's Rock, Scarboro, lies off the farm called 'Hubbard's house,' east of Prout's Neck. Philip, an educ. Jerseyman, appear. first in Berwick shortly aft. Scarb. was evacuatted in 1690. This farm was then owned by Mr. Robt. Elliot of Gt. Isl., who cert. had a tenant on it, and was in position to pick his men among the newly arriving Jerseymen. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Philip Hubbard came from the parish of St. Saviour in the Isle of Jersey, and is first mentioned as an inhabitant of Berwick in 1692. His brother Joseph died in Maine, 1 April 1701, unmarried. He was several times selectman and treasurer of the parish. Married 22 Dec. 1692 Elizabeth (Goodwin) Emery, dau. of Daniel and Margaret (Spencer) Goodwin. Died in 1713. Children: Philip, John, Elizabeth, Moses, Aaron, Patience, Mary. Both are buried at Hubbard Cemetery on Old Fields Rd in S Berwick, perhaps the original Hubbard farm.
