[ref 15] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Robert, son of Richard Swan, was born in 1626 or 1628 in England. He married (first) Elizabeth Acie, of Rowley; she died in 1689. He married (second) April 1, 1690, Hannah Russ. He died February 11, 1698. Soon after his marriage he went to Andover, Massachusetts, and in 1650 to Haverhill, in that part afterwards set off and incorpated as the town of Methuen, where many of his descendants have lived. He took the oath of allegiance, November 28, 1677. He was a soldier in the great swamp fight, King Philip's war, Lieutenant Benjamin Swett's company. Robert Swan was in Rowley in 1652 (Ipswich Deed II: 228); Robert Swan & wife Elizabeth of Haverhill, sell to Anthony Crosby of Rowley, land which formerly belonged to his father Swan in said town.
