SAMUEL WARNER was born in Ipswich, 1640. His father, John Warner, removed from Ipswich to Brookfield, 1665, and was one of the three who secured the Indian deed of the township. At the destruction of Brookfield, 1675, John Warner and several of his sons retired to Hadley and subsequently resided in that town or immediate vicinity. Samuel Warner participated with his father and his brothers in the founding of Brookfield and in 1673 was one of the petitioners for the incorporation of the town, but there is no evidence that he removed his family from Ipswich until he removed to Dunstable very soon after 1680. He was one of the proprietors and was one of the seven male members of the church of Dunstable at its organization, December 16, 1685. He died about 1703. He married at Ipswich, October 21, 1662, Mercy Swan, born July 4, 1640, daughter of Richard Swan of Rowley. She died at Dunstable, April 3, 1683. He married, second, May 4, 1685, Mary (Martin) Swallow, widow of Ambrose Swallow of Chelmsford. Children: Priscilla, Samuel, John, Dorothy, Sarah, Richard. [ref 47:91]

[ref 63:209] Samuel Warner was in Quabaug, later Brookfield, as early as 1665. At a meeting of the Committee for Brookfield 2 July 1668, then ordered and agreed that the land that is lying between John Youngloves and Samuel Warner's land be reserved for a ministry, there is six acres of meadow secured for it on the west side Coy's brook next the Pine plain. On the 11 Oct. 1673, as an inhabitant of Quabaug, Samuel Warner petitioned the General Court "to let ye name of ye place be Brookfield". Samuel Warner, as judged from the dates of the births of his children, must have also retained his residence at Ipswich until 1676, he was freeman there 12 May 1675, and on the 26 Mar. 1678 he gave his age there as thirty eight years; his daughter Mercy's birth occurred in Wenham the last month of 1678. In answer to the petition of Samuel Warner & Thomas Parsons, the Court judgeth it meete to allow Sam Warner eight pounds for two oxen & four pounds for other cattle, in all twelve pounds, & Thomas Parsons to be allowed for his catle, to be paid by the County Treasurer, compensation was undoubtedly paid for supplies or losses incurred in the fight with the Indians. [ref 63:210] Samuel Warner aged about thirty eight years testifieth that a parcel of Land in Brookfield which formerly was myne which was about twenty acres of upland and ten acres of meadow I say I sould to goodman Coy and he sould it to Mr Millet and as Goodman Coy tould me that he assigned the deed which he had of me unto Mr Millett, and also that Mr Millett was possest of the aforesayd land, and also of ten acres of upland given by the Towne to Mr Millett lyeing upon the west syde of the aforesayd land being more or less, and Mr Youngloves land lyeing upon the west of the foresayd ten acres, being bounded by a stake next the meadow lyeing betweene the foresayd twenty acres and Mr Youngloves, and soe running unto the highway, betweene Mr Youngloves and the fore say twenty acres, more concerning the payment for the above sayd by Mr Millett to Goodman Coy I knew that Goodman Coy had two cowes of Mr Millett for the aforesayd land.
