Philip, son of James Stackpole and Margaret Warren of Dover; m. 1st Mercy Thompson with whom he was accus. and acq. in Apr. 1713; m. 2d betw. 1750-1753 wid. Martha Stevens. He built on the Tibbetts land and was sued in 1717 by Samuel Tibbetts, Jr., who was awarded the ho. and land, but to pay S. �200 and costs. Will, of Somersworth, 25 Aug. - 30 Sep. 1761, names w. Martha, 6 of 8 ch. [ref 22]

Philip Stackpole married, about 1712, Mercy Thompson, perhaps dau. of John and Sarah (Emery) Thompson of Berwick, (2) between 1750 and 1755, Martha, widow of John Macelroy and dau. of Thomas and Martha (Lord) Downs of Dover. She died 24 Sept. 1792, aged 101. He died about Sept. 1761. Lived on his father's farm. Children: Philip, Joshua, James, Sarah, Lydia, William, Elisha, Otis. [ref 33:749]
