| - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Nathaniel Fernald b. 28 May 1671?; married Ann, dau. of Robert and Hannah (White) Allen, 10 Sept. 1702 at Dover, N. H. He was a farmer and shipwright. He made will 15 Feb. 1742-3; probated 4 April 1748. Children 1703-21: Tobias, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Hannah, Ruth, Mary, Timothy, Timothy. [ref 33:379] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Nathaniel, b. May 28, 1681; m. at Dover, Sept. 10, 1702, Anna Allen; shipwright and planter. He had a land grant from Kittery in 1699. On June 6, 1702, Nathaniel Furnall of Kittery, planter, sold for �13 to Richard Webber of Portsmouth, tailor, a certain dwelling-house and housing and the island, being about three acres, on which they stood, "lying and being between John Partridg's now Dwelling hous and ye great Island now called Newcastle," the houses and island being in the possession of Jonas Weigfield by "formerly in ye possession of my ffather Samuel ffurnell Deceased." From the description this island would seem be be that now known as Marvin Island, over which the road from Portsmouth to New Castle passes. Nathaniel Fernald of Kittery, husbandman, made his will February 15, 1742/3. It was proved April 4, 1748. To his wife Anna Fernald he left the income of his real estate for life. Children and grandchildren are mentioned. Executor: his son Nathaniel. Witnesses: Abner Cole, Lydia Allen, John Godsoe, David Spinney, Jerusha Spinney. An inventory of �392:18:4, old tenor was entered April 3, 1748, by Joseph Fernald, Abner Cole and John Godsoe. [ref 46:1-547] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WILL of NATHANIEL FERNALD 15 Feb 1742/3 - 4 Apr 1748: In the Name of God Amen. The fifteenth Day of February Anno Domini one Thousand Seven Hundred & forty two/ three, I Nathaniel Fernald of Kittery in the County of York and Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Husbandmn being aged and weak in Body but of perfect Mind and Memory Thanks be given unto God, therefore calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last Will and Testament, That is to Say principally, and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of God, that gave it, and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent & Christian manner at the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named, Nothing doubting but at the great & General Resurrection, I shall receive the Same again by the almighty Power of God, and as touching Such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give & dispose of the Same in ye following Manner & Form. Impr I will that all my just Debts & Funeral Charges be paid by my Executor hereafter named out of my Estate as soon as may be conveniently after my Decease, and also my Wife's Funeral Charges after her Decease. Item I give & bequeath unto Anna Fernald my dearly beloved Wife the Income of my Real Estate during her natural Life. Item I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Son Nathanl Fernald all my Wearing apparel, and give & confirm unto him all my Real Estate of what kind or Nature Soever, which I have already given him by a Deed or Instrumt under my Hand & Seal. Item, I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Mary Fernald a Bed & Furniture belonging to it Standing in the Northeast Corner of my House Item. I give & bequeath unto my well beloved Daughters Hannah Breeden & Ruth Knight all my Household Goods and personal Estate of every kind to be equally divided between them after my just Debts & funeral Charges and my Wifes Funeral Charges be paid out of the Same to be delivered to them by my Executor within Twelve Months after my Decease and the Decease of my Wife. Item, I give & bequeath unto my Grandson George Fernald the Son of Tobias Fernald late of Kittery Decd Five Shillings lawful Money to be paid to him within twelve Months after my Decease by my Executor hereafter named. And I do hereby make & ordain my Said Son Nathaniel Fernald my Sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament and do hereby utterly disallow revoke & disannul all & every other Will or Wills Legacys Bequests & Executors by me in any Ways before named Willed & bequeathed, Ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last Will and Testament.
