[ref 74:96] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Benjamin /Jane Hardison Revolutionary War Widow's Pension Application W226 Henry Warren Affidavit 3/30/1857 National Archives & Records Administration M804-1188 Canada County of Elgin To wit: I Henry Warren of the Township of Malahide in the County of Elgin and Province of Canada Esquire make oath and say- 1st That I was present at the Marriage Ceremony of Jane Warren where she was joined in Matrimony to Benjamin Hardison late of the township of Bertis in the County of Welland and Province aforesaid Gentleman, now deceased 2d That said Marriage Ceremony took place on or about the twenty first day of January in the year of one thousand eight hundred and was performed by one John Warren senior late of said Township of Bertis Esquire who was the Father of the said Jane Warren and who at the same time was legally acting in the Capacity of a Magistrate for the Niagara District (now in the County of Welland) aforesaid according {to the?} statutes of said Province made and provided 3d That I was personally acquainted with the said Benjamin Hardison and knew him {crossed out word} intimately for upwards of {crossed out word} forty years, and from frequent conversations with him and other concurrent circumstances. I {crossed out word} say that the said Benjamin Hardison served as a Soldier in the army of the United States of America during the American Revolution-And that he was taken prisoner and brought into the Lower Province of Canada by the British forces-and that he came from the state of Massachusitts[sic] or thereabouts. Henry Warren {his signature} Sworn before me at the Town of St. Thomas in the County of Elgin this 30th day of March A.D. 1857. Hy. Hamilton {his signature} A Commissioner for taking affidavits in the Queen's Bench in and for the County of Elgin in the Province of Canada - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 23 Apr 1821 Fort Erie mills, deed of a plot of land fronting on the river road of a width of eighty-seven feet by two hundred feet in depth, was executed by William Smith, merchant, conveying it at a price of two hundred pounds sterling, to John Warren, Esquire, Benjamin Hardison, Benjamin Hardison, the younger, Andrew Miller, David Berger, Cyrenius Hall, William Powell, Henry Trout, Samuel McAfee, Peter Plato, and Edward Kerr, yeomen, as trustees, to be used as a site for a church and graveyard and for no other purpose whatsoever. 1 Nov 1824 divine service was held in the house of Benjamin Hardison (son of this Benjamin) at Fort Erie mills children 1786-1823: Benjamin, Thomas, George, John, Jane, Mary, David, Agnes, Susan, Martha buried at Fort Erie - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | ||||||||||
