Church meetings were held in the log-house of Dea. Joshua Chadbourne, another descendant of the original Humphrey, who kept "ye great house at Strawberry Bank." The "great reformation" started in the log-house of Deacon Chadbourne, in 1789, and extended into the surrounding towns. [ref 66:239]

JOSHUA 5 CHADBOURNE (James 4-3 Humphrey 2 William 1), born Kittery ME 25 June 1729 (KVR, 42); died Cornish circa 1805; married 27 Dec 1750 SUSANNA SPINNEY. They lived in Phillipstown ME when two daughters were baptized in Wells 11 Mar 1756 (NEGHR 73:314). Joshua removed to Cornish ME after 1771 when he was still on the Sanford ME tax lists. He was a sentinel in the Indian Wars with his brother John. He is buried in the Cemetery in the Fields, near High Hill Rd, Cornish, between sons William and Joseph. Children, surname CHADBOURNE: Betsey, Benjamin, Lucy, William, Joseph, George, Joshua, Sarah, Jerusha, Susan, Patty. [ref 74:97]
