Undoubtedly the soldier at Piscataqua, Samuel Shaore of Braintree, ord. home in 1690, and the soldier at Saco in 1696 (Shorey) were the same. He m. 28 Apr. 1702 Mary Rhodes, had a gr. in 1703, and liv. in what is now Eliot. In 1724 gr. adm. in Bristol co. on est. of br. John, shopkeeper of Rehoboth. Mary Davis of Westerly, R.I. (m. Peter D. in Boston 1706) and Sarah Oakman of Marbleh. (m. Samuel O. in Boston 1708) were their sisters. Samuel and w. Mary had ten ch., incl. John, and Miles. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The name was sometimes written Shores and the family may have been connected with the Shores family of Portsmouth. Samuel Shorey witnessed a deed at Kittery in 1702 and had a grant of 50 acres in 1703. He married, 29 April 1702, Mary, dau. of Thomas and Mary (Thompson) Rhodes and lived in the northern part of Eliot. Died about 1769.
