John, son of Roger Garde and Philippa Gist of York; bp. 8 Nov 1618, m. a dau. of Wm. and Christian Tetherly of Biddeford, sis. of Gabriel of Me. A Boston merchant 1652, he took from John Davis and w. Mary a q.c. to his fa.'s lands made over to her form. husb. for debt in 1645; at their ho. in York he confirmed their deed to John Lamb (York deed 1:153). Rhode Island 1654, 1668 dealing with Wm. Tetherly in Boston; poss. the same Mr. J.G. 1666, Dep. 1667. [ref 22]
