Joseph died at 33 in 1714 and without a will, and his wife Eliza remaried Samuel Hewey. Elizabeth Mead Dennett Harvy was licensed on Dec 17, 1714 to sell her husband's legacy at Gravelly Ridge. Joseph Jr. mentioned some of this land as given to him by his father during his lifetime. Joseph Jr. attempted to consolidate ownership of 'the ridge,' and a warrent dated April 29, 1734, was allowed two days later, excepting the widow (his mother's) third. Joseph Dennett Jr. died about 1745 and left a widow, Sarah Low Dennett, who was licensed to sell the land at Gravelly Ridge on Aug, 26, 1747. The untimely deaths and remarriages in the Joseph Dennett family created a confustion of ownership at Gravelly Ridge. Dispite the difficulties, the land remained in the family until the beginning of this century. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | ||||||||||
