Will 21 Jan. 1739-40 - 30 Jan. 1750-1 names w. Ann (Wingate), dau. of John, who surv., and 5 ch. b. 1697-1709. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Israel, son of Israel and Ann (Thompson) Hodsdon, married Ann, dau. of John and Mary (Nutter) Wingate, born 18 Feb. 1667. His will, dated 21 Jan. 1739-40, was probated in 1750. Lived in Dover, N. H. Children: Israel, Moses, Mary, Abigail, Shadrach. [ref 33:531] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ISRAEL Hodgdon3, b. in Kittery, Me., 1673-4; little has been found concerning his early life; his father died when he was an infant, and his mother married a second time. We think he may have lived with his uncle Jeremiah as we find him at Portsmouth, N.H., in 1696, when he was appointed administrator of his father's estate On Apr. 7, 1696, the town of Dover, N.H., gave him a grant of land. He probably m. before this time, Ann Wingate, sister of John Wingate who had m. his sister Ann; she was b. in Dover, Feb. 18, 1667, and was living in 1740. They lived in Dover, and in the several deeds he gave he is called a "housewright" or carpenter. Children: Israel, Moses, Shadrach, Abigail, Mary. [ref 32:25] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 7 Feb 1698 Israel Hodsdon, as administrator of his father's estate, sold the entire to Daniel Emery by the following deed: "Israel Hodsden of Portsmouth sell Daniel Emery of Kittery, a piece or Parcel of land containing twelve acres situated in Kittery, bounded as follows: on the North with Etherington's land, on ye East with William Gowen, on ye south with Tristram Harris, on ye West with land formerly laid out to Jeremiah Hodgdon; together with fifty acres in Kittery; near the Third Hill, bounded East by Edward Weymouth, South by William Gowens and John Breadens, West with ye Common and North by Stephen Jenkins" (York deeds 4:98). 15 Jun 1702 "Israel Hodgdon and Ann his wife, sell John Drew, Sen., of Dover, a parcel of land containing twenty acres, which land was granted by ye Town of Dover to my father-in-law, John Winget in the year 1658. Situated on the West side of the Back River, bordering on the North by a twenty acre lot granted at the same time to John Roberts and lays between Roberts' lot and a twenty acre lot granted to Ralph Hall" (N H deeds 6:328 ). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WILL OF ISREAL HODSDON 21 Jan 1739-40 - 30 Jan 1750: I give to my loving wife Ann Hodgdon, all my quick stock as oxen, cows, young cattle, horses, sheep, swine, and also all my household goods, that is to say, besides bedding of every kind and all the utensils to the house belonging. I give and bequeath to my son Israel Hodgdon, twenty acres of land, being part of my right in the Division of the Common Land. Israel Hodgdon Paying to his brother, Moses Hodgdon of Berwick, twenty pounds, within six months after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my son Shadrach Hodgdon, ten acres of land, being part of my right in the Division of the Commons. I give and bequeath unto my three sons, Israel Hodgdon, Moses Hodgdon, and Shadrach Hodgdon, all my Ox Tackling, as Yokes, Chains and Wheels and such things as belong there unto, to be equally divided between them, and also my clothes to divided between the said three sons. I give and bequeath to my two daughters, Mary Randall and Abigail Ham, all that part of the moveable Estate that shall remain at my wife's decease, to be equally divided between them, and I do hereby make and appoint my loving wife Ann Hodgdon, full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking, Disannulling and making void, all former Wills and bequests by me made and declaring this only to be my last Will and Testament.
