27 Jun 1709 applied for license "to Sell Strong drinck as retaylor & In holder" but turned down by the selectmen "being of the opinion that there is more then enough of Such lycences in ye Town already granted"; applied again on 18 Jun 1710, was granted and renewed 27 Aug 1711 and on 06 JUL 1715, the minutes of the selectmen show that "Benja. Dyers Petition that his Lycence may be renewed to Sell drink as a Retayle at his House to wch he is removed next to his Father Andlings House in Newbery Street allowed"
