William, son of Capt. Isaac Williams and Martha Parke of Newton; b. 2 Feb. 1665, H. C. 1683, min. of Hatfield, ancest. of along line of disting. clerg. [ref 20]

William, the fourth child of Capt. Isaac Williams and Martha Park; b. 2 Feb., 1665 - grad. at Harvard Coll. in 1683; sett. over the church in Hatfield, Mass., in 1685, before he was 21 years of age. His death, 1741, closed a ministry of nearly fifty-six years - "laboring," as Sprague says, "with great zeal and exerting a wide influence until the end." He m. (1) Elizabeth dau. of Rev. Seaborn & Dorothy Bradstreet Cotton, of Hampton, N. h. Of their five ch. the fourth was Elisha, the first descendant of Robert Williams to settle in Wethersfield. No traceable relationship probably existed between him and those of the same surname who lived here before him. [ref 24:2-800]

WILLIAMS, REV. WILLIAM, was b. in Newton, 1666, grad. H. C. 1683, was settled over the church in Hatfield, about 1686, and d. Aug. 29, 1741, in 76th yr. He m. (1) Elizabeth, dau. of Rev. Seaborn Cotton. She was b. Sept*. 13, 1665, and d. Aug. 7, 1698, ae. 32; (2) Aug. 9, 1699, Christian Stoddard, who d. April 23, 1764, ae. 87. Children: William, William, Martha, Elisha; and children born 1700-13: Solomon, Elizabeth, Israel, Dorothy. [ref 84:163]
