Capt. Edward, Saco, Newbury, son of Lt. John Sargent; b. 8 Mar. 1661, deposed in 1740 that he liv. in Saco until 27 yrs. old. In 1681 he and George Page made the Cape Porpus highway; in 1685 he and Goodm. Scammon collected the mainister's salary. Gr.j. 1686, tr.j. 1687; com. Ensign 1687; tav. lic. 1686, 1687, Mar. 16989-90 (Capt.). Rep. 1688. In wartime he hired the town ho. in Portsm. where his fam. liv. 2 2/3 yrs. from 22 Sept. 1689. Commanded Winter Harbor garri. 1690 (in May asked for vessels to carry off the women and ch.). Called of Saco in Jan. 1690-1 when D. Tristram deeded to him adj. his dwg. ho. In 1693, �31 he depos. about the last time Gov. Sir Wm. Phips went from Portsm. to Boston. Newb. vintner 1695; Capt. at Saco 1696; of Newb. bot the Love prop. at Salmon Falls in 1697, selling to Ichabod Plaisted in 1707. Wife Elizabeth d. in Newb. 12 Dec. 1718, ag. 56. He m. there 2d 9 June 1719 Sarah (Pierce) Bradstreet, and d. (Esq.) 31 May 1742, ag. 81; will. Wid. Sarah d. 12 Jan. 1743-4 in 74th yr.
