John by 1665 when he conv. his ho. in trust for them and any other issue to Nathl. Fryer and Henry Robie, they to choose a third. Pub. ho. lic. 1663-75. In 1666 he gave a bond to Philip Chesley sr., wit. by his servant Christopher Snell; the next yr. Joanna Chesley test. ab. 'Mr. West coming up to our ho.' and borrowing a canoe. Sued Rowland Flansell and Christopher Banfield for forf. of a bond in Me. ct. 1667; ag. �29 in Dec. 1668; sued by Richard Wharton 1671; wit. ag. David Campbell 1673. Called Sergt. 1673. Inv. �540 1 Sept. 1677, adm. 31 Oct. to wid. Martha and aft. her heath to George Walton 24 June 1679. Her inv. �762 29 Jan. 1678-9, adm. to her fa. who leased to Henry Crown a ho. called 'The Anchor,' a brew-ho. and log storeho., terminable on the oldest s. John coming of age. Other ch: Elizabeth, Mary, Edward, 'infant son,' Capt. Thomas Daniel named gdn. 24 June 1679. [ref 22] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Edward West of Great Island made a deed of trust on Oct. 5, 1665, running to Nathaniel Fryer and Henry Roby, for the benefit of his wife, "in consideration that I married Martha daughter of George Walton and have had issue by her one son named John West." West, sometimes distinguished by the prefix of respect, kept the tavern at Great Island from 1663 until his death in 1667. Children: John, Edward.
